The City of Las Vegas started as a stopover on the pioneer trails to the west and became a popular railroad town in the early 1900’s. The first legalized resort & casinos appeared in the 1940’s and the rest is a great amount of history in a very short amount of time! At the start of the 20th Century our city didn’t even exist and by the start of the 21st Century it is now home to well over one million people, with enough newcomers arriving to need a new school every month!
With the fifth largest school district in the nation and a booming local economy, Las Vegas continues to accommodate its growth. Here you’ll find we have a pro-business environment in which companies do not pay a corporate income, franchise inventory or unitary taxes. The cost of living in Las Vegas is lower than any other comparable U.S. city, in part because of the absence of any state income tax. With the economy and job market booming, there has never been a better time to relocate to our beautiful city. In 2006, 50,000 jobs were created in Las Vegas. By 2012, 45,000 more hotel rooms will be constructed on the Strip. That means we’ll need almost 200,000 more workers to fill the spots created by these new resorts! No matter if you’re just starting your family or looking for a spectacular location for your retirement, Las Vegas is the place for you and yours.
